Active Self Help Group – Nongspung

The Active Self Help Group is a community-led collective formed by the women of Nongspung A village in Ri Bhoi District of Meghalaya. Rooted in the traditional knowledge of natural resource use and driven by the vision of environmental sustainability and economic empowerment, this SHG aims to become a recognized unit for producing eco-friendly tableware — specifically bamboo spoons and areca leaf plates and bowls.

To empower the women of Nongspung A by creating sustainable livelihoods through the production of eco-friendly bamboo and areca leaf products, while preserving traditional craftsmanship and promoting environmental responsibility.
